Ginkūnai Manor (Žeimių g. 7, Ginkūnai) has become a home of refuge for women and children fleeing the war in Ukraine. We opened our doors to see the devastating mission of the Russian army in Ukraine. The first refugees arrived on 5 March. Within half a year, between 20 and 50 refugees were living in the mansion. With the support of the Ginkūnai community, religious organizations and churches, and secular institutions, we were able to provide meals and accommodation free of charge for half a year. During this time, women found jobs, children started attending schools, and those who wanted to study the spoken Lithuanian language were given the opportunity. As they gained more opportunities, some women rented apartments, moved with their children to apartments in the city, and several refugee families decided to return to their home country. I would like to thank the Šiauliai District Municipality Administration for the financial support of 800 EUR (Program: Support of non-governmental organizations in Šiauliai District) for the refugees who have settled in Ginkūnai Manor. The donation was intended to cover the costs of laundry services, chemical and household supplies, household appliances and electrical wiring repairs. The money was spent during the period July-September this year. Yours sincerely, LKF President Valdas Vaitkevičius
